2010's first post

I'm a bit rubbish. I apologise. Various things have been going on which have drawn my attention away from personal pleasures (I've intentionally made that sound seedy because im like that) towards larger projects that have required to be finished. Hell I'm sat here working now still. Yesterday I split my head open on a wooden beam while running from my computer to the kitchen. I was rendering a massive file in final cut and left my heinz tomato with a hint of basil soup in the microwave. It was turning and burning, and when I say burning I mean it looked like a volcano erupting. Next thing I know I'm on the floor with blood pouring out of my head. 6 stitches and a lot of laughing with a casualty nurse later I was back at Chris my VFX guy's house continuing on the work. The results will pay off, I hope. I'll show case everything on here when I can.

Enough about me, lets look at some awesome sights I've seen on the webz over the last couple of months:

SANTA MAN

I only saw this earlier but was totally hooked. Incredible in all aspects

It's the brain child of Daniel Djanie, and putting out work like this shows the guy has got some serious talent. I really can't do it justice in words just watch the short animated film and see how addictively good it is. Click the link below.

Are you getting the BIG PICTURE?

I've got a bit blog crazy recently. I posted the following link a few days ago in my personal blog which I mostly write utter trash and post personal moving image projects in from time to time (http://thatfilmduderyan.tumblr.com). It's photos taken from the disaster across the world in Haiti that strangely, although terrible, have this strange sort of beauty about them in some places. It's hard to explain but you can check out some of the images by clicking the link below, there are too many to post on here:

Jordan Buckley

Jordan Buckley is better known for his guitaring in one of my favourite bands Every Time I Die. I've been fortunate enough to work with these guys on a few occations for various video projects and have seen the stuff that Jordan has been selling on their merch table at each show. Normally it's in the form of a tour poster unique to the tour, to which he only prints like 50 or so. It's a really good souvenir to take home rather than a t-shirt that 5 washes last looks like its fresh out of an ASDA 3 pack of plain t-shirts (logoless). His recent and most awesome drawing was one for a forthcoming tour with some good friends in a band called Four Year Strong. Check out the below image, if you want to see more there is a link to JB's website:

FOUR YEAR STRONG

Talking of Four Year Strong, what about this for album artwork.......

Enemy of the world comes out in early MARCH. Get ready for some awesome music.

Galileo

Another incredible animation piece. No more needs to be said. Click here to visit the vimeo page.

The Kingdom Title Sequence

When I saw this, I got excited. Most people call you a freak when you get excited by film title sequences. But for me they shape my early anticipations of the film and most of the time they are right. The Kingdom is a great film full of nail biting moments, and its ending is one which I think speaks a massive truth about us as a species and what a lot of the hell that is going on now in the world is based around. When I say the ending, I mean the final lines of main dialogue. Check it out for yourself, see the film, but for now sit down and watch the title sequence because, my god, it is untouchable.
