Greetings all
I'm somewhere out there (location x), taking it all in, but once again I have the time to post another entry in the dangerous commercials experience. This entry is mostly concerned with one of the loves of my live, motion/video visuals.
Hecq Vs Exillion
Joint directed byTim Brown (Colonel Blimp) & Christopher Hewitt (Knucklehead) this video is what I would describe is 'incre-a-ble' (which has now been coined as my main phrase by my American friends). Shot incredibly well and using a simple yet funny concept this has to be one of my favourite music videos this year (plus the drum and bass is awesome!).
A Day In The Life
This reminded me of myself during my time at University (and still does in some aspects). Awesome still picture and audio concept from Harry Nesbitt (no relation to Buzz Lightyear's alter-ego haha!)
Spirit of the stairs
A beautifully shot live video shoot. That's it.
MOSH VFX Showreel
Motion graphics agency MOSH VFX have just released their 2009 showreel for all to see. It's a pure inspiration for any budding motion graphic designers out there.
Blackhole
Awesome. You can check arjanM.com for more information on the music and the video. Sit back and take it in.

A stitch in time saves nine.
I have been so busy it's really been a trial to get the time to post another creative insight. But I'm taking time out of my day to do a small post on a few things I've seen over the last month or so which I've really liked.
Invoice
Imagine having an invoice for all the things in the day you wouldn't normally get paid for? For circumstances where the person you are working with is a complete asshole. Or where you think "to hell with this". Well......

Photography by Thomas Prior
Love how these environments look out of the ordinary yet are just every day environmental occurrences at the spots.

Monsieur Cabinet
Creativity in any place at any time with anything. That is the true reflection of a successful creative. These guys are doing just that, check out their site for more insights but here are a few I really loved.

Tom Geraedts
A virtual CV. I really want to do one of these one day.
The Tom has recently pulled this out of the bag, incredible, mind blowing, so inspirational.

Back from the Abyss
I always do this. I fall behind on blogs, its a well known condition called 'busy life'. But I'm here to return the balance to the world.
TYPOGRAPHY
Have been lurking around the typography served blog today and found some sweet new typefaces from Veer, a couple of these are in a similar sort of style as our latest CBP print advert which I will show shortly.

CBP PRINT ADVERT
Designed by Tom Griffiths this will feature in the brochure for a charity event we are documenting at Hall For Cornwall in Truro. We kept things simple, clean and elegant to make the advert as appealing as possible to people of all ages.

MUSIC

THRICE - BEGGARS: One of the greatest albums I've heard this year, available for digital download from Itunes NOW! Or if you want to take a quick listen click the spotify link below which opens the album directly in spotify for anyone that has this remarkable program. If you don't have it yet, WHY NOT?

VIDEO
This was an incredible HD video I found on vimeo a few weeks back. Shot on a red one camera the storyline was open to adaptation by the actors. All together it rolled into a wicked piece. Check it out and if you have a spare 20k please buy me a red camera!
This was another video that I saw in the vimeo HD section. It really is showing the power of the Canon 5d mark II and how digital film making is being reshapped by this wonderous piece of kit! The film shapped up something I've wanted to do for so long, which is shoot a short film based around solitude and how it is conforting for some people, at certain periods of time. It's also gloriously weird which I loved.
This video is another example of the 5D mark II in action. So fun!
I'm a massive comeback kid fan, and this DVD is amazing. The trailer says it all
IMAGE INSPIRATION
Thanks to FormFiftyFive for these beasts.

I can't wait for the Avata film (the last picture above). If you have no idea what this mammoth project is check out the trailer below and be excited.
This youtube embed is a little sketchy so head over the apple site and see it properly in HD, it's well worth it CLICK HERE.
That's it for this update. Thanks all

Cut Copy

Limited edition packaging for Melbourne electro band Cut Copy's album 'In Ghost Colours'. Personally I love this album, it's a great one to listen to during a summer day. What's more intriguing with this is the premise behind how this limited edition works. CR blog writes as follows:
'The double CD package includes the album on the 1st disc and a 2nd blank disc which can be used to burn a personalised remixed version of the album. Users can create their own mix either by using the software and samples included (on a USB pen drive also in the package), or by downloading the files from the accompanying website 'Cut . Copy . Upload', where users can also upload and share their created mixes.'

Creatively. I'm hoping that the above word is being involved in my day job so much, that I'll get a creative amnesty for the rest of my life when I abandon it and just love every second. I'm in credit for shit thanks! Now where are the roses?

Winds and sounds
Music and visuals coming at you with tonight's update. As always, clicking 'vimeo' on the videos means a link to a tastier full HD version. Whatever goes. The wind is howling and my Thrice album sounds good, all that linked with a cold glass of Strongbow.

Just literally seen this on Kitsune Noir. Love it. Feels like you are on some sort of acid trip. Read more here.

Partly true, but then again I love technology so does that make me a hypocrite in response to liking this image?

Not sure why but this is pleasing to look at. Both of the above images from this wondrous blog.
Oh my GOD. I love HD visuals <3
So funny. I love all the films characters included equally.
These guys really are genius'.

If you don't have this album I suggest you go buy it immediately from here. It comes with a DVD of the evening too. Just incredible music which inspires. You can learn more about what Thrice are up to there on their blog.

Visual Food
I saw this image and loved it, and unfortunately, I think most people have yet to experience 'this' to allow it to be forgotten:

Love this branding, so crisp, so sweet:

And this is just lighthearted, slightly cute but very cool:

The audacity of huge VS awesome funny surfing section
Art Directed by Kate Moross, this is the new video for Simian Mobile Disco's song 'The Audacity Of Huge'. Awesome music with an awesome video that has so much vibrance about it, it's hard not to feel good, yet slightly weird, after watching it.
The next video was linked to me by a friend and features Damien Hobgood partaking in my favourite sport (no not tiddlywinks), surfing, in a packed out California line up. The theme of the video is trying to surf when its just FAR too busy (a well known problem in my area). It also features one of my favourite metal songs. Cop yourself a look. It was originally featured on the transworld surf website (a bunch of guys known for their comic vibes within their American published surf magazine).

Saturday Inspirations
1) Look at this image from one of the D&AD winners Matt Dent. At first glance the reaction is, brilliant, what a clever idea. If you don't know what's going on, it's a shield representing all the countries that make up the United Kingdom. But then you look harder again and realise that it is in fact meant to be set out like the white rose and the shield design (and if you aren't familiar with that, it's recently been adopted by Watford punks Gallows for their Grey Britain album). When you realise what Matt set out to do, you see it goes a little beyond face value. So awesome, you can see why he won really!

And here's another one from the same contest by a German Graphic designer with some environmental advertising for Ikea

CR Blog providing the goods for these two images. Go read more there!
2) This video goes beyond cool, seriously.... I laughed hard when I watched it for the first time, and have done every time I've watched it since.

Not at download. It does suck so hard :(
(Not a creative post but what the hell) But at least you can catch all the streaming action right here.
http://downloadfestival.co.uk/webcast/
Although it still doesn't stop the pain of wanting to be there filming the antics going down on and off stage! I also found this sweet video of Josh from Four Year ripping up on BMX which to be honest, its fucking hilarious because of the tune they used. Check it out haha.

Music Recommendation: Spy Catcher

If you've not heard Spy Catcher yet, shame on you. A collaboration of artists from Haunts, Cry For Silence and Gallows, they have already thrown out a set of demo tracks that made it into Kerrang's top tracks listing. The sound is something along the lines of The Stereophonic's early album, mixed in with influences like the Get Up Kids, and possibly a more upbeat Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. Take what you will from that, either way be sure to have a listen. They are also due to hit the road for a few dates with the The Get Up Kids later this August.
For more information on the guys check out their interweb hideouts:
Myspace
More Joe Simon
I had to update this with more of Joe's stuff purely because more of the world need to see this guy's talents.

Vinyl
Ok I don't like the Pet Shop Boys but you have to admit, this Vinyl collectors edition is pretty amazing!
